Getting Crawled even with AJAX and Flash Content

Why is it Important?

The internet is an ever evolving world of its own. New technology, such as AJAX and Flash, enhance the users experience and make the site more interactive. But as always, all things come with a price. Search Engines often find it difficult to crawl website with advanced programming, but there is a way to solve this.

Have you ever heard of a Sitemap.xml file?( Note the capitalized ‘S’ in Sitemap) These are files that dwell in a websites main directory, and basically map out your site for the search engines. What does this mean for you? It means previous content that couldn’t be crawled is no longer an issue. This file is also useful if your website is not well linked, and you want the search engines to discover your other pages.

This file can also be used for reasons that decrease your bandwidth usage. You can tell search engines how often to come back, the last date a page of yours was modified, what page is your most important and more. This does not guarantee all URL’s in your file will be indexed, but no search engine penalizes for this, so go ahead.

Tutorial:

So you know how important it is, but you don’t know how to use it. Well, here is a simple guide.

If you are using WordPress, here is a simple plugin that will do it all for you.

If you are using any other kind of website, you can easily make them yourself by following Google’s tutorial over here.

Just remember to do everything the white hat method and good luck with your newly crawled content!

Social Bookmarking, how to do it right.

Social bookmaking is an important part of free advertising. It is indispensable for building links to relevant content and attracting targeted visitors. Any webmaster knows these are key to success for any website. Keep reading to find how you can get on the front page of websites such as reddit, stumbleupon, and digg!

Always Pay Attention to Your Headlines

Headlines are the greatest attraction for an article. Make yours catchy and intriguing. If you make your headline “Search Engine Optimization”, you probably will not even get noticed. You should try something that includes more information about your actual topic, try “Search Engine Optimization, Is it Effective?” Asking the question adds the intriguing effect and gets the readers involved. I’m sure you get the point.

Descriptions also Make a BIG Difference

So, you figured out how to make a great headline, but you should realize without a great description to give the reader insight into the article, the article will still get overlooked. Just keep this in mind, “A sentence is too little, a paragraph is too much.” Keep it down to two to three sentences that explain very well, make it a paragraph and people will not even read it.

First Paragraphs are Important

Just like for any other area of life, first impressions are important in an article. Make your first paragraph is the greatest part of your article. Finding the right first paragraph should take as long as writing the rest of the article. Yes, it is that important.

Don’t worry, I won’t let you do all the thinking yourself, I’ll give you a few hints. It is a good idea to have a question or two in the paragraph, let’s say if you are writing about Search Engine Optimization, you can have “Have you ever wondered whether all your efforts are paying off?” With that sentence, you are likely to have people interested, and you can keep the suspense by only answering it in your conclusion.

You can also promise things such as, “By the end of this article, you will be prepared to run a successful website.” Do not make fake promises, as these will make people automatically ignore future content from you, exactly what you don’t want.

In the End, it all Comes Down to Content

Sure you had a great first paragraph, but the rest of your article is just as important. You need to keep the reader interested and you need to give them a reason to keep on going. If you have read all the way to here, you obviously were interested by my content. Think about what methods I used, and do the same in your own articles.

Make those Bookmarking Links Obvious.

You want others to bookmark your links and not you. Sure you can bookmark once, but this is pretty useless when you are trying to get to the top list. An important thing to keep in mind is people usually will not bookmark if you don’t remind them! Make sure to have buttons under each post, making it accessible. If you are using Wordpress, here is a link to the AJAX plugin I use. If you have a static or otherwise HTML website, you can use the codes below wherever you want the buttons to appear.

Del.icio.us

<a href=”http://del.icio.us/post?url=<?php the_permalink() ?>&title=<?php the_title(); ?>”>Del.icio.us</a>

Post when Your Readers are Awake

On almost every bookmarking site, you can only stay on the top list for around 24 hours. Make sure you write the article right before your users login, giving you the most digs possible.

Make Sure to Submit to the right category

Submitting to the wrong category means you probably will not get on the top list, and even if you do you are attracting the wrong crowd. Avoid this at all times!

Be Prepared to Fail

Sometimes, even when you do everything correctly, things just don’t go your way. Don’t give up, and just try harder the next time.

How to know a site is ready for sale.

So, you made a website, added some content and all that good stuff, but you don’t know if it is ready or you need to put in more work. I’ll give you a few hints that will help you decide and hopefully make more money!

If you are making a website based on content, make sure to submit it to all free resources available( avoid link farms as they might cause Google to penalize you!) Spend some time and create a great article to submit to directories, and create backlinks and exposure for the website. I will list a few article directories and services you can use.

http://stumbleupon.com: Add the toolbar and add the website you want to promote.

http//youtube.com: Submit a helpful tutorial or slide show and include URL at the end.

http://articlebase.com: One of the best article directories, submit the article you already made. Make sure to follow the given guidelines.

http://ezinearticles.com: Another highly known article submission website.

http://technorati.com: If you have a blog, make sure to add them!

http://digg.com: Dig your own articles and encourage visitors to do the same.

http://squidoo.com: This site has high pagerank, meaning you can make a lens about the topic of the site, and add backlinks to your actual site.

You can also use sites such as myspace and other social bookmarking sites to add your URL and interesting facts.

That’s all for now, more hints coming soon! :)

Convicing People to Buy

Here are three powerful marketing tactics you can use to get more sales the next time you advertise. All three work for any business. And you can use them effectively on the Internet or in traditional media.

1. Don’t clutter the thread!
Most people hate making a choice to buy something when it forces them to reject or delay buying something else they also want. They’re afraid to make a decision they may regret later or even right after. Many people faced with this choice spend a lot of time checking all their options. They can’t make a clear choice so they decide to make no decision at all …and you lose out.

That’s why you should promote only one website or service each time you start a thread. Develop separate convincing articles, for every one of your sites. Limit your clients decision to only “Yes” or “No” instead of “Yes”, “No” or “Which One”. You’ll probably get more “Yes” decisions this way; definitely what you want.

TIP: Sometimes you can successfully combine two or more related products or services into one limited special offer. Make sure to limit your customer’s decision to “Yes” or “No”. Don’t include an option to buy any of the items separately. An example would be, “Buy my website and get a free domain.”

2. Make them feel it is worth the buy.
People buy from you because they want to gain profit from the product or service. They want to get that benefit fast. And they want the site to be easy to use — or your service to produce results without disturbing their daily routine.

Always keep this in mind as you develop your threads or even signature. Show not only the present state of the site or service, but the future benefit and potential that can be gained.

This can apply to all buying and selling even including affiliate programs.

Good Luck with your sales!
